Moana Festival

Moana Auckland, New Zealand’s Ocean Festival, is a first of its kind in Tāmaki Makaurau. The festival celebrates the region’s love affair of the ocean – from waka to super yachts – through events and activities both on and off the water. Experience delicious kaimoana, sailing races, historic vessels and education about our ocean and heritage. Set against the backdrop of Auckland’s spectacular Hauraki Gulf.

Tasked with launching and promoting this unique event we set about designing a visual look with roots from illustrated postcards and posters of old — with a nod to a love of travelling to exotic locations. Each illustration represents the ocean that surrounds Auckland and the amazing opportunities it brings, with reference to the existing Moana logo and its ripples. 'We're Making Waves' became the overarching line to inspire Kiwi's & tourists to come and enjoy all that is on offer. The idea was to create a campaign that is simple and iconic.
